ASSESSMENT POLICY

At LGS we have established a comprehensive testing policy for Grades I- IV to ensure fair and consistent evaluation of student performance. This policy encompasses all aspects of assessments, including formative and summative assessments, quizzes, projects and research assignments, classwork, homework, and class participation.

Formative Assessments:

Formative assessments are a fundamental component of our educational approach, allowing us to gauge student learning and development in real-time. These ongoing assessments occur throughout the learning process and provide valuable feedback to both educators and students. They are not solely focused on assigning grades but are integral to guiding the learning journey.

Quizzes:

Regular quizzes are administered to assess students’ understanding of specific topics covered in class. These quizzes are announced in advance, providing students with ample preparation time.

Projects and Research Assignments:

Periodic projects and research assignments are assigned to encourage students to apply the concepts they have learned in class. These assessments are graded based on the quality of research, presentation, and the depth of understanding demonstrated.

Classwork and Homework:

Regular classwork and homework assignments are given to reinforce classroom learning. These assignments are graded and contribute to the overall grade of each student. Assignment submissions have to be timely and late or missed assignments are given a zero.

Class Participation:

We evaluate class participation based on students’ engagement in various classroom activities, including discussions, group work, and presentations.

Summative Assessments:

Summative assessments, in contrast, are designed to evaluate the overall performance of students at the conclusion of the academic year. These assessments serve as a culmination of the learning journey and provide a comprehensive evaluation of students’ knowledge and skills.

The key summative assessments include:

Mid-Year Test ( MYT)

Mid-Year Exam (MYE)

End of Year Test ( EYT)

End of Year Exam (EYE)

These assessments not only measure individual student performance but also help us assess the effectiveness of our entire educational process. They play a vital role in determining the level of mastery of concepts taught in class and assist in identifying areas that may require further attention within our curriculum.

Our assessment policy is carefully designed to support and enhance the learning experience, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to thrive academically. We are committed to academic excellence and providing a fair and supportive evaluation system that helps students achieve their full potential.
